Our Fault-Finding Process
1. Confirm the Problem
We’ll discuss what has been happening, when the fault occurs and which lights, outlets or appliances appear to be affected.
2. Inspect and Test
Jordan will visually inspect the relevant equipment and carry out electrical testing on the affected circuit, switchboard and accessible wiring where required.
3. Identify the Cause
The fault may be caused by damaged wiring, a loose connection, faulty equipment, moisture, an overloaded circuit or a problem with the switchboard protection.
Some intermittent or concealed faults may require additional investigation before their exact location can be confirmed.
4. Explain the Repair
Once the likely cause has been established, we’ll explain what has been found and discuss the repair options. If larger or additional work is required, approval will be obtained before proceeding.
Warning Signs That Need Prompt Attention
Arrange an electrical inspection if you notice:
- A burning smell from a switch, outlet or switchboard
- Scorch marks or melted electrical components
- Crackling, buzzing or active sparking
- Power points or switches becoming unusually hot
- Repeated safety-switch or circuit-breaker tripping
- Tingling or electric shocks from appliances, taps or metal surfaces
